Certificates of Authenticity

A GLA Certificate of Authenticity is a permanent record, not a piece of paper. It gives collectors, buyers and sellers a single place to confirm that an item was authenticated — or witnessed being signed — to our standards.

Every certificate includes

Six things on every COA we issue

Unique certification number

Assigned once, tied to one item, and never reused — the anchor for every other record.

Secure QR verification

Scan and the record opens instantly, wherever you are — at a show, a shop or a shipment.

Online database registration

The certificate exists in our records, not only in your hands. Lost paper does not lose the proof.

Tamper-resistant features

Security printing and finishing that make a convincing reproduction impractical.

Digital verification record

Item details, imaging and the authentication result, kept alongside the certificate number.

Official GLA seal

The authentication seal that marks the item as having passed our review.

Witnessed signature authentication

When our representative watches the pen touch the item

The strongest form of autograph authentication is not analysis after the fact — it is being there. For selected conventions, private signings and special events, a trained GLA representative personally witnesses the guest signing your collectible.

Immediately after the signing, the item is documented, matched to a certification number and issued an official GLA Certificate of Authenticity. There is no gap in the chain for doubt to enter.

Eligible items

What we issue certificates for

Certificates are available for eligible collectibles and memorabilia, whether or not the item also receives a numeric grade.

Movie posters Photographs Funko Pops Trading cards Sports jerseys Comic books Album sleeves Helmets & equipment Books General memorabilia
Authentication only

Certificate without encapsulation

For oversized or irregular items — jerseys, helmets, posters — we authenticate and issue a certificate, with the item returned as received rather than sealed.

Authentication + grading

Certificate with a graded holder

Where the item fits a GLA holder, the certificate and the numeric grade travel together — one certification number covering both.

Why it matters

Confidence that survives the sale

A certificate protects the item's history and makes future trades simpler. The next owner does not have to take your word for anything — they can check the record themselves.

For sellers

Fewer questions, faster sales, and a defensible answer to "how do I know it's real?"

For buyers

Independent confirmation before money changes hands, from your phone in seconds.

For collectors

A documented provenance trail that outlives receipts, photographs and memory.
